Obtain Permission Before Visit

Trunk Island Beach is located in Trunk Island, 1.2 miles northeast of Flatt’s Village and 4.4 miles northeast of the capital city of Hamilton. The beach is only accessible by boat and one must obtain permission from the Bermuda Zoological Society before visiting this small private beach. The Bermuda Zoological Society frequently brings groups to Trunk Island so to access the beach they should be contacted. Due to the restrictions, Trunk Island Beach is one of the least crowded beaches in Bermuda.

From the beach, there is a nice view of the sound. Public restrooms are not available at this beach and lifeguards are not stationed so families with small children may choose to visit a different beach. No concessions are available at the beach. The water is fit for swimming and snorkeling.

Closest Interests of Trunk Island Beach Bermuda

Bailey’s Bay Cricket Club is the closest attraction, located a third of a mile to the north from Trunk Island Beach. There are also two art galleries a third of a mile to the north: Evans, Amy & Vaughan and Otto Trott Art Studio. Otto Trott was born and raised in Bermuda and is well-known for his paintings of Bermuda, its people, and the sea surrounding it. His watercolor and oil paintings are priced between $500 to $5000. His art studio is open by appointment.

The Bermuda Aquarium, Museum, and Zoo is just under a mile to the southwest of Trunk Island Beach. The Aquarium has over 200 species of fish on site while the zoo houses over 300 reptiles, birds, and mammals. The museum is a natural history museum. Just a quarter mile past the Bermuda Aquarium, Museum, and Zoo to the southwest lies the Bermuda Railway Museum. The Bermuda Railway Museum is a one room museum showcasing the history of trains that ran along Bermuda’s coastline until 1948. The museum also sells old railway spikes and signs.

Nearby Hotels, Restaurants & Resorts

There are a few restaurants within a mile of Trunk Island Beach, the closest one being the Pizza House Restaurant at a third of a mile away to the north. The Pizza House Restaurant is well-known for its excellent pizza. Other nearby restaurants include Buzz n’Go Crawl Hill, Rustico, and Indigo. Buzz n’Go Crawl Hill and Rustico are very casual restaurants serving American fare.

There are several accommodations options within two miles of Trunk Island Beach. The two closest are Angel’s Grotto about a mile to the southeast and Palmetto Garden Condominiums about a mile to the southwest from the beach. Other nearby hotels include the Pink Beach Club, Grotto Bay Beach Resort, and Rosewood Tucker’s Point.

The Pink Beach Club is a fairly large property with 113 guestrooms. The resort features live entertainment nightly, two private beaches, an exercise gym, and complimentary breakfast. Grotto Bay Beach Resort is a large property situated on 21 acres with 201 rooms. The resort features live entertainment nightly, an exercise gym, a game room, a children’s playground, and private beaches. Rosewood Tucker’s Point is a mid-sized luxury resort with 88 rooms. The resort features a golf course, tennis facilities, exercise gym, health club, and a fine dining restaurant.
