Annie’s Bay Beach Bermuda is Excellent For Swimming

Annie’s Bay is located on St. David’s Island on the east coast of Bermuda, 1.8 miles southeast of St. George. The beach used to be a U.S. military beach but is now open to the public. It is small and sandy with an extended coastline to the right and dramatic rock formations to the left. This beach is excellent for swimming as the water is shallow, calm, and clear. Hills enclose Annie’s Bay Beach Bermuda and there is light beach vegetation present. There are no public restrooms, lifeguards, or concessions available at Annie’s Bay.

Explore Fort Popple, Fort Cunningham & The Carter House Museum

Fort Popple and Fort Cunningham are both less than a mile from the beach. While Fort Popple can be walked to, Fort Cunningham is accessible only by boat. The majority of Fort Popple is in ruins, but it is free to explore the area around the fort although it is unlikely visitors will be able to enter the fort itself due to extra restrictions. Fort Cunningham is located on Paget Island and has served both to protect the area and as a prison at times.

The Carter House museum is just over a mile from Annie’s Bay. The Carter House was built in 1640 and was one of the first house in Bermuda. The museum contains artifacts with somewhat of a focus on farming and whaling. It is open from April through October from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday. The museum is free to visit.
